Part 2 reviews the necessary components of comprehensive obesity management, and how to apply these principles when structuring initial visit consults as well as follow-up visits. This section includes elements of care such as lab work, imaging, referrals, and pharmacotherapy. It reviews taking a weight, nutrition, activity, sleep, and psychological history, as well as an obesity-specific review of systems, physical exam, diagnosis, and plan.  It also reviews pharmacologic treatment as well as metabolic and bariatric surgery and devices.

Part 3 dives deeper into effective communication and strategies to promote behavior change. It also expands on emotional well-being, physical activity, nutrition, and sleep counseling.

Throughout the book, you will find tips and suggestions based on the author’s experiences and observations in the form of “pearls”.
