About this Community Chat Group:
This Community Chat group is a forum for clinicians and other obesity medicine-related specialists such as dietitians, exercise physiologists, and behavioral health specialists, as well as practice management staff, to discuss all aspects of developing an evidence-based, compassionate, and comprehensive obesity care program or practice, including but not limited to billing, coding, reimbursement, documentation, marketing, patient education, and the how-tos for an obesity medicine and management practice that is based on evidence-based medicine and best practices.
1. Patient-First Language
Please be sure to use patient-first language in posts. i.e.: patient with obesity; patient affected by obesity, rather than “obese patient”. https://www.obesityaction.org/action-through-advocacy/weight-bias/people-first-language
2. Evidence-Based/Best Practice
Please make sure discussion and comments are based on evidence-based material and sound knowledge. The goal is to facilitate discussion to help further education and understanding of clinical management and practice management.
3. Practice Inclusive
This group is inclusive to anyone who may play a role in a successful obesity medicine practice. Please be aware of using clinician-inclusive language, referring to “clinicians” rather than, for example, “physicians”, “doctors”, “physician assistants/ associates”, or “nurse practitioners”, unless specifying the type of clinician is relevant.
4. Providing Education and Support
The role is to help educate and support clinicians and others involved with practice or program management who are seeking support and tools for developing a successful, evidence-based obesity care program or practice. Anyone who does not contribute to discussion and is found to be here to sell a product or service only will be removed.
5. No Promotions or Spam
Give more than you take to this group. Self-promotion, spam, and irrelevant links aren’t allowed and will be removed. You may be removed from this group at the discretion of Gaining Health leadership if you do not adhere to these guidelines.
6. Confidentiality
Please respect the confidentiality of everyone in this group as well as your patient’s privacy. Do not share any patient information that may violate HIPAA rules and regulations. Please do not share proprietary or personal information with anyone outside of this forum. Please respect the intellectual property of Gaining Health and the members of this community.
